Thinner, Lighter, Longer

Ars Technica reports on the just-unveiled iPhone 5:
The phone measures 7.6 millimeters thick and weighs 112 grams, 18 percent thinner and 20 percent lighter than the iPhone 4S. IPhone 5 retains the retina display pixel density of the iPhone 4S at 326ppi, but it now has a 4-inch 16:9 display at a 1136x640 resolution with 44 percent more color saturation than the 4S. Because of the added screen real estate, the phone can now show five rows of icons on its home screen. Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of marketing, noted that many of Apple's own apps, including iWork, GarageBand, and iMovie have been updated for the new screen. For apps that have not been updated to the new display resolution, Apple says it will either center the apps or "subtly place black borders on each side." Inside, the iPhone 5 will have a new A6 chip with CPU and graphics that are twice as fast as the A5 in the iPhone 4S. According to Schiller, the new chip launches web pages 2.1 times faster and can save images from the Photos app 1.7 times faster than the A5.
